Saturday, September 20th One of the most exotic, exciting races ever seen at the Zoo was last year’s inaugural Call of the Wild ! To see those Outlaw Late Models, especially those Dirt Dancers, going around the track as fast as or faster than a Winged Sprint Car, with their sideboards that would rival most billboards found on I-94, is something that a sharp racing mind could only imagine. One highlight of the night will certainly be the special qualifying session that will be held around 8PM. You may see a select few drivers strap on some Hoosier Fast Backs and try to break the all time speed record of 10.746, held by the legendary Randy Sweet. Last year, one of the Dirt Dancers ran a 10.795 in his back up car….do any of the pavement guys have what it takes? A new record will pay $500, but more importantly, will be the one driver that steps into history; the history that everyone always said would never happen. This race basically has 3 rules….it must be a race car, it needs a minimum of a 96” wheel base and a 10” tire(or smaller) is required for the race. That means anything from Cyber stocks to Lead Sleds to Modifieds to Outlaw Super Lates will be running! Pit gates will open at 1PM, hot laps at 3PM, qualifying at 5:30, with the wildest racing action in the Midwest will kick off at 7PM. Lots more at www.kalamazoospeedway.com Just for your information - The Auto Value Sprints WILL NOT be at Kalamazoo this weekend.
