D&B Motorsports Makes Exciting Changes for 2010
Holland, MI – D&B Motorsports has been racing around the West Michigan area for countless years, with cars competing at various levels primarily at the Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan. After several competitive seasons of racing, D&B Motorsports owners Don and Brian DeWitt are proud to make several exciting announcements pertaining to the upcoming 2010 race season..
The driver of the #19 Outlaw Late Model Nick Shotko, will return to the seat of his Wolverine Power Systems machine again this season. With two top-five and seven top-ten finishes, and a best finish of fourth on May 30, the 10-year race veteran will look to improve from his solid eight place points finish in 2009.
The Zeeland Family Dentistry sponsored #12 of Josh Slade finished ninth in the Super Stock class points at Berlin Raceway in 2009. Slade, after several seasons with D&B will depart for a brand new exciting adventure. The young Coopersville, Michigan driver will drive for Fewless Motorsports, out of Spring Lake. The team will run a brand new Perfect Circle Racecars chassis and will be the first season of competition in which they will run full time at Berlin Raceway.
“I would like to thank D&B Motorsports, Don and Brian DeWitt and everyone that helped me out for the past few years here. It has been a great learning experience for me and I look forward to my new opportunity for the future,” said Slade.
The 2009 ASA Late Model Challenge Series Champion Brian Campbell will compete on a part-time basis for D&B Motorsports, driving the #20 Outlaw Late Model. The partnership with Perfect Circle Racecars will have Brian behind the wheel of a brand new Perfect Circle chassis as well. The second-generation driver will also compete in his template late model again in 2010, at various tracks across the nation.
“The chance to participate in an outlaw car part-time and drive the template car again this coming year is very cool for all of us,” said Campbell. “We have every intention to put the Perfect Circle car in victory lane this year.”
Young Gun competitor Mitch Meppelink will return to the seat of his Great Lakes Window Covering car again this year. The Zeeland West High School student will look to capture the Young Gun division title in his second season of racing at Berlin, as well as his first visit to victory lane.
Finally a name that will be completely new to the D&B Motorsports camp this coming year is Travis Nylaan. Formerly a driver in the Pro Stock and Super Stock divisions, Nylaan will return to the seat of a Super Stock after a one-year hiatus. The seat, which has been vacated by Josh Slade, will be filled with 21-year-old driver who started his racing career in go-karts. The #3 car will compete full-time at Berlin Raceway, in hopes to battle for the 2010 season championship.
“I am very excited to be able to drive for Brian and Don DeWitt and D&B Motorsports! Not driving last year was hard on me, so to have a great ride like this is a dream come true,” said Travis Nylaan. “I cannot wait to get back on the track in April and hopefully get my first Super Stock win with the help of everyone at D&B.”
Team owner Don DeWitt put all of the pieces to the puzzle together in short order, with the season quickly approaching.
“We couldn’t be happier with the way everything has come together for us. I think all of the guys are anxious to get on the track and we are excited to see what they can do,” said team owner Don DeWitt. “I also need to say a special thank you to Billy Shotko for his years of service as a driver to us.. He was a pleasure to have around, and we wish all the best to him for the future.”
Good Luck and you will make the season a little more enjoyable with your professionalism and your ability to make the racing fun. Geo
