from ASA title

the 12 ASA Late Model Series races this season.Wyoming's Brian Campbell had
his worst race of the season last weekend when engine failure took him out
of Saturday's ASA Late Model Series Challenge Division season finale at
Memphis Motorsports Park.
Brian CampbellNot even a 30th-place finish in the King's Ransom 300 could
derail Campbell's march to the championship, though. Campbell brought home a
title after dominating the series the past seven months.
How impressive was Campbell?
He recorded top-10 finishes in 10 of the 12 ASA races this season, and that
included three victories and eight top-10s.
"We had a great year, and this is our first and only DNF," Campbell told
asalatemodels.com after Saturday's race. "A lot of consistency and top fives
won us this championship, and we did not have any motor problems until today
but we had to run this girl to death so it was time to get it freshened
anyway."
What made Campbell's championship so impressive was that he did it under new
ownership.
Campbell, the 2005 ASA Rookie of the Year, previously raced for Mike
Blackmer, who sold his team after purchasing the lease to operate Berlin
Raceway last fall. So Campbell went to race for Perfect Circle Racecars.
The 30-year-old Campbell is a second-generation driver. His father, Fred
Campbell, is a 10-time Berlin track champion.
Campbell is the second West Michigan driver to win a traveling stock car
racing series title this fall. Coopersville's Johnny VanDoorn clinched the
CRA Super Series championship in October.
The season isn't over yet for Campbell and his crew. The team plans to
compete in the 42nd annual Snowball Derby on Dec. 6 in Pensacola, Fla.
