West Michigan health agencies are warning folks to be aware of a mysterious illness called 'circle fever' by many, and also known as 'circle sickness' by people in the Kalamazoo area (Randy Sweet). This condition is known to affect people of all ages and economic backgrounds every Spring (sometimes starting in mid Winter), and lasting until September or later. Fever usually builds in this time period, during the week, and culminates on Friday or Saturday nights, only to re-emerge on the following week.Symptoms include, but are not limited to, an insatiable desire to watch or even drive cars at a very high rate of speed in circles on a prepared track for same. Dark circles may appear under the eyes of individuals who have a desire to go so far as to prepare a vehicle for this endeavor, due to lack of sleep from late hours spent in the garage. Bruised knuckles, grease under the fingernails, and loud cursing from said garage may also be noticed. Asking family members, acquaintances, and often times complete strangers for money to alleviate the fever may also be apparent. Others may only have a preoccupation with cleaning coolers, and hauling seat cushions, and or, blankets from under piles of debris in their own garages, cleaning grilles, and a desire to have a picnic before the temperature is barely above freezing! Anyone noticing these symptoms in someone is encouraged to STAY AWAY from them, for this fever is highly contagious!! Any contact with someone with circle fever will cause them to start talking incessantly about their efforts to relieve their fever and "get their fix", their "need for speed",etc.. Any exposure to the fever is guarantied to spread to you due to the pure pleasure derived from it. Don't worry however, for you will not be alone, many in our community are infected, and it will go dormant once colder weather arrives in the West Michigan area. Unless, of course, you own a SNOWMOBILE!!! Then you are doomed to suffer year round! All I can say is 'Good Luck".
Have a SAFE and FUN racing season everyone ;D
