Action Packed Night at the Zoo!
Mother Nature blessed us with some warm sunshine, even though she gave us a little scare around 8PM. With over 100 cars in the pits, our fans were treated to a little of everything, from our regular class of Mods, Sportsmans, & Pure Stocks, as well as the Cyber Stocks, Outlaw Midgets, and the Super Cup Cars.
In the Modified Feature, Jeff Ganus spoiled an all BS Motorsports night, as Brian Bergakker scored the win, Jeff was 2nd, followed by BS Motorsports driver Mark Fliearman, Chris Orr, Dan Fraizier, Chris Shannon, Mark Shook, AJ Foote, Brent Hook, and Steve Landers rounding out the top 10. In the heat races saw Richard Maurer and AJ Foote take home the wins. The Mod Squad saw Prom skipper Mark Shook set quick time on the afternoon.
Courtney Weston had a great run, winning the Sportsman A Feature, followed closely by Tony Staffen, Cory Kruzel, Brandon Zachary, Clay Rogers, Bob Flotka, Buddy Head, Rick McMullen, John Kent, and Jim Kollath round out the top 10. The Sportsman heat races saw Brian VanZile and Courtney Weston take the checked flags. Brian VanZile set quick time on the afternoon with a lap of 13.946 at 96.408 MPH.
Greg Haynes showed his stuff in the Pure Stock A Feature, out running Butchy Glass, Jacob Caines, Lloyd Brooks, Brad Shellenbarger, Ron Chaffe, Jr., Harold Lock, Jim Belka, Jamison Russell, and Matt Noble rounding out the top 10. The heat races saw Brad Shellenbarger and Jamison Russell pick up the checkered flags. Butch Glass set quick time with a lap of 14.973 at 89.635 MPH.
The Cyber Stock action is starting to get wild, as this new class is starting to grow and first time driver Keith Dunham scored the win. Jordan Hunderman finished in second with Shawn Misak finishing third, with Brian Neece, Ken Knapp, Brett Knight, Clark Smith, CJ Koeller, Travis “Tiny” Krum, and Danny Mclntyre rounding out the top ten spots. Jordan Hunderman and Brett Knight picked up the heat race wins. Young stud Brain Neece set quick time at whooping lap of 18.259 at 73.936 MPH.
In other racing action David Byrne scored the Outlaw Midget Feature with Jim DeBacke winning the Super Cup Feature. The Kalamazoo Speedway would like to thank the 23 Outlaw Midgets that had drivers from Seattle Washington show up to race put on a great show. Also to Tim Phillips and his group of cars that brought 16 cars to the event.
Next weekend, May 17th, the Late Models make their return, as they will be tuning up for the next Klash Series event, on Memorial Day Weekend. We will also have the Modifieds, Sportsman, and Pure Stocks all pounding the pavement at Southwest Michigan’s Entertainment Hot Spot, the Kalamazoo Speedway!
