The Better Half Pass

It's all about providing a family atmosphere and allowing the family to enjoy racing at Springport Motor Speedway. And what better way than to get the drivers' wives or girlfriends involved in a very affordable way. In fact, affordable isn't the proper word, because it's actually free. Yes, Springport has introduced the "Better Half Pass" this season. It's available to all drivers of the ABC Stock Car Series and the Pony Stock Series and it allows their better half to get a free pit pass. If the driver is female, her husband or boyfriend can get a free pit pass.
At some tracks it's easy for a driver to wander into the main grandstand and sit with his wife for a short time during his breaks in between events. But at Springport, the pits are outside of the back straightaway and the main grandstand is on the front straightaway. It's a long walk around the speedway to get from the pits to the main grandstand.
Many of the driver's wives or girlfriends usually sit in the grandstands because the ticket price is always much cheaper than a pit pass. For some, they just stay home. "I would rather the driver's wife come to the track and enjoy what he is doing on Saturday nights. What better way than to have them be together in the pit area. It's certainly better than staying home", says Maurice Randall, promoter at Springport, "And maybe some of the drivers have a hard time talking their wives into letting them race. Maybe this will help."
And no doubt this will make it easier on the budget for those drivers whose wives come every week anyway. A savings of $25 on a pit pass is important to many drivers in today's economy. Randall also stated, "Don't forget about our Junior Crew pass either. Anyone 12 and under can get a pit pass for only $12."
So, it sounds like it's a great family deal to go racing at Springport Motor Speedway in 2010. The Better Half Pass is not only a big help for the budget but also keeps the family racing together.
If you are a driver, it's easy to sign your better half up for this deal. Just go online and register yourself as a driver and your better half at the same time.
