IF kalamazoo speedway was smart...THEY would change that rule. I dont want to get into the whole speel about it...but a 50lb weight penalty would be sufficient.
you want guys to use there old late models that most have berts in..so its cheaper for them and more competitive...but you want them to have to go buy all new stuff....or used or whatever. trans, clutch, through out bearing, pilot bearing, shifiting rods, driveshaft....thats a lot of dough...
i mean NO disrespect...just an opinion

I agree with Raber on this one. Iam sure alot of the sportsmen drivers would agree on this also.

berts, coil overs, dry sumps, 10in wheels, weight and open type bodies. thats all thats keeping the two classes seperated. you cant keep going or you might as well just have a super shoe type race every week. HEY, THATS A THOUGHT HUH!.

why not allow 10 inch rims if your going to allow wide 5's there are alot of late models who probaley got some laying around. Plus it would be easier on us Berlin guys who already run them. A 10 inch rim fills the body better than an 8 inch rim

billy for what your track is paying versus what kazoo is paying, i cannot see what is keeping you guys from running kazoo anyways. as for the wheel deal, its the same as I said earlier, you have to have a few things to seperate the classes. we have went through 4 years of rule changes: chassis, tires, suyspension, bodies, weight, you name it. Its gone as far as it really can fairly go for those who have been supporters of the class.

For the price you have to payto run sportsman its cheaper to race late models at Kalamazoo. The 5 inch spring rule with no coil overs makes it very expensive compared to coil overs. The brackets cost alot and are unsafe in my opinion. I went to dummy shocks with 5 inch coil over kits in the limited after I seen how far load bolts bend scrubbing the tires. The new body rule I think will help cut the cost a bunch with the ABC bodies being way over priced. There should be a clutch rule to cut cost. You can get a 7.25" clutch cheap but if you go to a 4.5" clutch you can be talking way more money than a Bert. Wide-5's will also cut cost as they are way cheaper than the 5x5 stuff. I think Kalamozoo is moving in the right dirrection to cut cost but still need to tweak the rules some to cut cost for these guys and make it more affordable. It should be a great class to watch this year.
